Title of Position: Database Administrator - NY, NJ or PA

Position Type: Full-Time. Typical shifts include Monday through Friday 8:00AM to 5:00PM

Compensation Range: $65,000.00/Yr - $90,000.00/Yr. *Hiring rates may be dependent on a number of factors, including years of directly related work experience, education, geographic location or special skills*

Responsibilities/Duties:



  • Work with multiple vendor and enterprise managed databases, to provide solutions for business units looking to utilize data.
  • Assist in determining data elements and structures that need to be accessed and extracted, moved, and loaded, validated and cleaned, and standardized and transformed; uses data integration tools to support all these processes.
  • Develop, manage, and test backups and restores of managed DB environments.
  • Monitor SQL Server performance; identify and create action plans to improve bottlenecks and perform health checks on designated DB servers.
  • Tune SQL server hardware usage and maintain virtual machines (CPU, Memory, Disk space, RAM, etc.)
  • Assess the impact of software changes on IT production schedules and workloads and on user department procedures. Recommend and implement design changes to ensure that maximum efficiency is achieved.
  • Design the overall structural design of database systems at both the logical and physical levels, working with users and development staff.
  • Create databases and database objects such as tables, tablespaces, synonyms, views, triggers, stored procedures, defaults, domains, and indexes.
  • Maintain and update schematics and documentation of managed DBs and servers; Work with product owner to develop and recommend operational contingency and disaster recovery plans.
  • Review, recommend, and assist in the development of proposals, designs, programming and implementation phases of applications added to database systems in support of providing staff with a variety of high-quality technical options.
  • Communicate and coordinate with technical personnel of outside vendors and agencies to define system requirements, develop implementation plans, test new software and new system interfaces, and resolve problems.
  • Azure Cloud Admin for Data Warehouse and the primary person for permissions and data masking related to DevSecOps involvement of Warehouse data migrated into the cloud.
  • Maintain User/Login Security on designated systems. Work with IAM team to determine appropriate access levels.
  • Provides departmental back-up coverage as needed.
  • Respond effectively to changing ideas, responsibilities, expectations, trends, strategies, and other processes.

  • After hours/on-call support required on a rotational basis.


Minimum Qualifications & Experience:



  • Bachelor's degree in computer science and 1-3 years of experience as a Database Administrator or Database developer; 4-6 years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite programs.
  • Experience with Azure cloud environments.
  • Strong technical skills, problem-solving abilities, and excellent communicational skills are essential.
  • Proficient with standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines, PCs, etc.

Preferred Qualifications & Experience:



  • Expert level knowledge of SQL Server and the concepts of performance tuning, Data Management, and good database design principles.
  • Understanding of database application technology tools including Microsoft Visual Studio and SQL Server Management Studio.
  • Ability to perform detailed SQL queries and proficiency with stored procedure development.
  • Advanced computer and math skills, adherence to confidentiality, detail oriented.
