Knife River has an opening for a Financial Planning and Analysis Analyst!

The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills and a deep understanding of financial concepts to support our financial planning and analysis activities. Works closely with management and operations personnel to perform ad-hoc analysis, annual plans and forecasting updates throughout the year.

Minimum Requirements:



  1. Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
  2. One to Three years of relevant work experience in financial analysis or a similar role but will consider recent graduates.
  3. Financial analysis experience in construction materials supply industry is preferred.



Duties and/or responsibilities:



  1. Analyze financial data and provide forecasting support.
  2. Prepare reports and projections based on financial data.
  3. Evaluate current and previous financial data.
  4. Study business and economic trends.
  5. Develop financial models that forecast business outcomes and profits.
  6. Assist in budgeting, variance analysis, and strategic planning processes.
  7. Collaborate with various departments to analyze financial data and performance.
  8. Perform ad-hoc financial analysis as required.
  9. Prepares statistical data of daily, monthly, quarterly and annual financial results.
  10. Assists in the preparation of daily, monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports.
  11. Provides assistance and analysis on special projects or other financial activities.
  12. Performs other duties as assigned.



Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:



  1. Excellent analytical and financial skills.
  2. Microsoft Excel super user - ability to create and modify pivot tables, macros, etc.
  3. Excellent communication skills - verbal, written and presentation abilities.
  4. Must be reliable and dependable during crucial accounting periods, i.e. month, quarter and year end close.
  5. Must maintain confidentiality of financial data.
  6. Must be adaptable and able to multitask and manage priorities in periods of peak volume.
  7. May require overtime from time to time to meet deadlines.
  8. Maintain composure under pressure and meet deadlines with great attention to detail and deliverables.
