Job Description

The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the maintenance team and ensuring the proper functioning of all production equipment, facility infrastructure, and related systems. This role involves planning and executing preventive, predictive, and emergency maintenance, troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues, and ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards. The Maintenance Supervisor will lead maintenance personnel, coordinate work with vendors, and optimize equipment performance to support production goals.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Leadership & Team Management:

  • Supervise, mentor, and train maintenance technicians, ensuring work is completed efficiently and safely
  • Coordinate and assign daily maintenance tasks, prioritizing urgent repairs and preventive maintenance schedules
  • Evaluate team performance, provide feedback, and conduct performance reviews
  • Ensure compliance with all plant safety protocols and enforce safety policies

Maintenance & Repairs:

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical issues on plant machinery and equipment
  • Develop and implement a preventive maintenance program to minimize downtime and extend equipment life
  • Ensure routine inspections and predictive maintenance activities are performed on schedule
  • Perform and oversee electrical repairs and installations, including PLC troubleshooting
  • Manage and coordinate external vendors for specialized repairs and service contracts

Inventory & Budget Management:

  • Identify, order, and manage parts inventory for equipment and facility maintenance
  • Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance schedules, and parts usage
  • Work within budget guidelines to reduce maintenance costs without compromising equipment reliability
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings through improved maintenance processes and vendor negotiations

Facility & Equipment Management:

  • Oversee the maintenance of facility infrastructure, including plumbing, HVAC, and electrical systems
  • Ensure all tools and equipment are in good working condition and meet safety standards
  • Coordinate facility repairs, including grounds maintenance and building upkeep
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives to increase equipment efficiency and reliability

Safety & Compliance:

  • Maintain a safe work environment by enforcing company policies and OSHA regulations
  • Conduct routine safety inspections and ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Investigate equipment-related incidents and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence
  • Participate in safety meetings and training programs, ensuring compliance with all legislative safety requirements

Qualifications

  • High school diploma/GED required; Technical School or Associate's degree in a related field preferred
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of maintenance experience, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory or leadership role
  • Strong knowledge of preventive maintenance scheduling, mechanical/electrical troubleshooting, and facility upkeep
  • Ability to lead and develop a maintenance team
  • Strong troubleshooting skills in mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems
  • Proficiency in using hand and power tools, diagnostic equipment, and maintenance software
  • Experience with PLCs, welding, fabrication, and HVAC systems is a plus
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple priorities efficiently
  • Manufacturing plant environment with exposure to equipment noise, temperature extremes, and dust
  • Requires walking, standing, lifting, bending, and working with high-voltage equipment and moving machinery
  • Must be available for on-call emergencies and occasional weekend or evening work as needed.
  • Amp probe, volt meter, hand tools, forklift, welding equipment, grinders, air hammers, torches, soldering iron, etc
  • PPE required: safety glasses, hearing protection, N95 dust mask, steel-toed shoes
  • This role is crucial to ensuring the plant runs efficiently, minimizing downtime, and improving overall equipment reliability. A successful candidate will be a hands-on leader who can manage maintenance operations while optimizing team performance and cost efficiency
