Position Highlights

The School of Natural Resources and the Environment within the College of Agriculture, Life and Environmental Sciences of the University of Arizona seeks to fill the temporary role of Research Data Support Specialist I (EcoRestore Coordinator). The EcoRestore Coordinator will conduct literature searches on native plants of Nevada to populate a spreadsheet used in managerial decision-making. This position will also summarize the information found in the literature searches and import it into a restoration tool.

The Gornish lab focuses on using integrated approaches to develop and deploy effective restoration and land management strategies in working and natural landscapes. We develop research and outreach programs on a wide range of themes to address questions related to ecological restoration and weed management in Arizona and the western U.S. region.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Literature searches using Web of Science, Google
    Scholar and Google to identify relevant papers describing ecological
    characteristics of a list of native plant species from Nevada.
  • Enter data collected from papers into a
    spreadsheet and summarize the data.
  • Import spreadsheet data into an online tool for
    manager use.

Knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Ability to summarize data.
  • Skill in rapid reading and recall of large numbers of scientific papers.
  • Ability to work independently.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or high school diploma equivalency.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Experience conducting literature searches.
  • Experience using Microsoft products.
