Job Description:

POSITION TITLE: FACULTY, CYBERSECURITY/CIS
STATUS:Full time, Tenure track
DEPARTMENT: Health & Public Services
DIVISION: Academic Affairs
CLASSIFICATION: Exempt
UNION: Faculty-AFT Local 604
REPORTS TO: Department Chair, Health and Public Services
PLACEMENT: Placement on salary schedule is dependent on qualifications
HIRING RANGE: Qualifications include education and related work experience.
Base Compensation Hiring Range for 2025/2026 Academic Year: $61,912-$110,322/annually (9 months)
Base Compensation Hiring Range for 2026/2027 Academic Year: $63,770-$113,632/annually (9 months).
Compensation placement based on education and related teaching/work experience.

POSITION SUMMARY
Adapt to new and changing situations and demonstrate a positive attitude. Demonstrate respect for students; understand learning styles and apply understanding to institution-related activities; demonstrate integrity and promote diversity and open communications. Fifteen (15) credit hours a semester constitute a standard load. Course assignments may be late afternoons, evenings, Saturdays, and at branch campuses or satellite centers. Position is subject to all terms and provisions of the Joliet Junior College faculty contract.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1.Teach and assist with instruction in the cybersecurity degree and certificate programs. Courses may also include but are not limited to: Networking Essentials; Windows and Linux client and server versions; computer security; and PC troubleshooting courses.
2.Work closely with other instructors and special programs and services within the college to determine placements, curriculum, and academic support.
3.Comply with departmental curriculum, grading standards, attendance policies, textbook choices, and assessments, and other established processes.
4.Attend classes regularly; return college reports, credentials, and other requested documentation in a timely manner; effectively communicate with appropriate staff, coordinator and chair.
5.Teach in-person, online and/or hybrid courses.
6.Comply with all legal and ethical obligations, including FERPA, ADA, and other regulatory legislations. Communicate discrepancies to appropriate officials.
7.Participate in cybersecurity course development, assessment, accreditation, and planning activities
8.Participate in appropriate departmental meetings and recruitment activities; serve on committees.
9.Stay informed on current trends and developments in computer science and related technology, and higher education best practices via professional development seminars and workshops.
10.Follow approved departmental policies, procedures, and guidelines.
11.Be willing to teach majority of courses at JJC Romeoville Campus.
12.Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1.Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related at time of appointment.
2.Expertise in appropriate technologies for instruction in the field of cybersecurity and networking.
3.Extensive knowledge of computer operating systems, computer networks, and computer security.
4.1-3 years teaching experience in higher education.
5.Demonstrated commitment to teaching and learning.
6.Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with other members of college and community, displaying cultural competence and emotional intelligence.
7.Demonstrated commitment to the college's core values of respect and inclusion, sustainability, integrity, collaboration, humor and well-being, innovation and quality.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
1.CompTIA A+, Network+, and Security+ certifications (required for tenure).
2.Knowledge of current trends in computers, computer software, computer languages, and related technologies.
3.3-5 years teaching experience in higher education.
4.Experience with traditional and non-traditional students from diverse backgrounds.
5.Experience in teaching online and/or using course management programs.
6.Experience in course development and assessment, planning, quality and accreditation processes, and committee service.
7. English and Spanish verbal and written communication proficiency
8.Demonstrated multicultural competence.

WORKING CONDITIONS
1.Classroom teaching environment.
2.A majority of instruction time will be on JJC's Romeoville campus.
