Job Summary

The faculty development specialist will be responsible for the development, implementation, and management of faculty development programs for graduate medical education. The faculty development specialist will research, develop, and present creative learning solutions for the medical education stakeholders and faculty, maximizing the impact of all learning investments through the strategic utilization of content, technology, and development methodologies. Supports comprehensive programs to engage career-long development of faculty in the areas of teaching, learning, and assessing learners' performance, as well as to promote qualitative research and scholarly activities.

Essential Functions
  • Responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining faculty development and other graduate medical education initiatives and curriculum that are aligned with the system's strategic objectives, ACGME requirements and physicians' needs.
  • Conducts curriculum development, educational research and outcomes, and provides consultative assistance to meet the educational training needs of resident and fellow physicians, faculty, and other team members as needed. Collaborates with faculty, colleagues and other stakeholders to ensure high quality medical education programs. Consults with affiliated medical school for faculty development in undergraduate medical education.
  • Understands various approaches in learning design that best meets the specific needs of different audiences. Knowledgeable in foundational principles of adult learning theory, development methods and applies it to practical situations and methodology.
  • Performs needs assessments to define the scope of opportunities to create solutions, leverage faculty development content or technology capabilities and investment.
  • Able to measure and analyze learning outcomes to continuously improve learning effectiveness and business impact. Maintains knowledge of current trends and developments in the field
  • Advises and communicates about faculty and educational opportunities, including available resources. Provides utilization metrics and oversight of webpage content.
  • Accepts responsibility for own actions and decisions while demonstrating commitment to accomplish work in an ethical, efficient and cost-effective manner. Holds self accountable to navigate through ambiguity driving self and project team contributors to a point of alignment and clarity. Show readiness, willingness, and ability to learn new concepts, processes, and tools.
  • Provides mentoring and consultation to team members, physicians, medical school faculty and students, and other academic institutions in the areas of medical education, medical education research/scholarship and publication work. Shares knowledge and visibility by presenting at multiple levels of conferences and through publications.
Qualifications

Required

  • Master's Degree or equivalent in Education, Higher Education
  • 5 years of relevant experience in learning and development, understanding of blended learning, program design and implementation

Preferred

  • 3 years of relevant experience typically gained through skills/knowledge/abilities in research
