Financial Analyst III

This position requires the ability to obtain a Public Trust to be considered.

Assist the Western Area Power Administration Sierra Nevada Region's (WAPA SNR) Financial Management Department, with financial analyst support by serving on a team and analyzing, organizing, planning, and administering financial analysis using established procedures.

All work shall be performed in accordance with the contract Statement of Work. Services provided under this task shall be in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations.

Compensation & Benefits:

Estimated Starting Salary Range for Financial Analyst III: $70,000 to $71,500.

Pay commensurate with experience.

Full time benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K, and other possible benefits as provided. Benefits are subject to change with or without notice.

Financial Analyst III Responsibilities Include:

  • Perform financial studies and analysis for assigned workload requirements.
  • Perform complex tasks providing general or specialized analysis in various budget functions such as budget execution, cost verification, and coordination of cost corrections.
  • Prepare invoices and spreadsheets for customer accounts.
  • Calculate and prepare payment and refund documentation, journal entries, and other miscellaneous financial transactions as needed.
  • Perform advanced analysis of accounting and budget data to provide recommendations to the agency.
  • Prepare reconciliations resulting in preparing and recording adjusting accounting entries.
  • Prepare, analyze, and review cost and financial reports.
  • Perform records and financial system research.
  • Perform backup Accountant duties and backup Accounts Payable duties.
  • Support management of customer accounts and agreements.
  • Process intra-government payment and collection transfers.
  • Prepare monthly accounts payable accruals and monthly credit card accruals. Also prepare quarterly analysis of credit card transactions.
  • Follow established policies, guidelines, procedures, laws, and regulations to ensure quality.
  • Review customer contracts to verify they follow financial guidance and policies.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Financial Analyst III Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:

  • Strong organizational, analytical and communication skills.

  • Strong customer service focus.
  • Ability to gather, relate and compare data, and verify data is reliable, accurate, and complete.

  • Proactive, not reactive. In other words, be able to research the current situation/data, make forecasts for the future, and have a contingency plan.
  • Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal
  • This position requires an active Public Trust clearance or the ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance to be considered (federal background clearance).
  • Minimum 4 years' professional financial and budget experience.
  • Intermediate-Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel (including vlookups, pivot tables, filters, sorting and formulas).
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Experience using cloud-based programs as well as any accounting software is a plus.
  • Prior experience with invoicing/billing, budget creation or management, Project Accounting and/or Accounts Payable.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Excellent organizational skill with attention to detail.
  • Ability to determine the goals and objectives of the WAPA SNR customer and apply them to task performance in an excellent manner.
