About the Role

The Emergency Response & Security Lead is responsible for overseeing and implementing emergency preparedness, crisis management, and security programs to ensure a safe and secure workplace. This role will develop and manage emergency response plans, coordinate security operations, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will have experience in emergency response, physical security, and EHS compliance within an industrial or manufacturing environment.

What You Will Do

Emergency Response & Crisis Management:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain Emergency Response Plans (ERP), including fire, hazardous materials, medical emergencies, severe weather, and active threat scenarios.
  • Conduct risk assessments to identify vulnerabilities and improve emergency response strategies.
  • Organize and lead emergency drills, including fire evacuations, chemical spill response, and active shooter training.
  • Ensure emergency response equipment, including fire extinguishers, spill kits, AEDs, and first aid supplies, are properly maintained and accessible.
  • Serve as the point of contact for local emergency services, including fire departments, law enforcement, and medical personnel.

Security Operations & Threat Management:

  • Oversee security programs, including access control, surveillance systems, and perimeter security to prevent unauthorized access.
  • Collaborate with security personnel to monitor site activities and investigate security incidents.
  • Develop and enforce visitor management procedures to ensure site security compliance.
  • Conduct threat assessments and implement countermeasures for workplace violence prevention and asset protection.
  • Support investigations of theft, vandalism, and workplace violence incidents, ensuring proper documentation and corrective actions.

Training & Employee Engagement:

  • Develop and deliver training programs on emergency response procedures, security protocols, and workplace safety.
  • Provide training on fire extinguisher use, first aid, CPR, hazardous material response, and active threat scenarios.
  • Coordinate with EHS teams to engage employees in emergency preparedness initiatives and ensure compliance with safety policies.

Compliance & Regulatory Oversight:

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA, EPA, and DHS regulations related to emergency preparedness and site security.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of emergency response drills, security incidents, and corrective actions.
  • Assist in regulatory audits and inspections related to emergency response and security operations.

Incident Investigation & Continuous Improvement:

  • Lead incident investigations related to security breaches, fires, medical emergencies, or hazardous material spills.
  • Implement corrective actions to address identified gaps in emergency response and security operations.
  • Continuously assess and improve emergency response and security procedures based

Qualifications
What You Need
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Emergency Management, Criminal Justice, or a related field (preferred).
  • First Aid, CPR, and AED certification required (or willingness to obtain).
  • 3-7 years of experience in emergency response, security management, or EHS within an industrial, manufacturing, or corporate setting.
  • Experience coordinating with law enforcement, fire departments, and emergency medical services.
  • Familiarity with fire protection systems, hazardous materials response, and physical security measures.
  • Strong understanding of emergency preparedness, security operations, and crisis management.
  • Ability to lead and coordinate emergency response teams and security personnel.
  • Excellent problem-solving, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in incident reporting, risk assessment, and emergency planning software.
  • Ability to work in high-pressure situations and make critical decisions quickly.
  • Must be able to work in industrial and manufacturing environments, including exposure to hazardous materials and emergency situations.
  • Must be available for on-call emergency response duties.

  • Understands and follows all standards of IATF16949 and VDA 6.3 quality standards. (training and awareness will be provided for those who are not familiar with these standards)
  • Understands and follows all standards of ISO14001 environmental standards. (training and awareness will be provided for those who are not familiar with these standards)
What is "Nice to Have"?
  • Certifications such as Certified Emergency Manager (CEM), Certified Protection Professional (CPP), or OSHA 30-Hour/HAZWOPER are a plus.

Work Environment

The work environment is primarily an automated manufacturing plant with a concrete floor and is characterized by some temperature extremes, moderate noise, and forklift traffic.
