About the Role:
As a senior consultant in the Technology Procurement and Implementation Services (TPIS) practice area, you will collaborate with team members to conceptualize, deliver, and support our clients on their technology and system modernization efforts. NYSTEC is considered a trusted advisor for our clients, providing subject matter expertise and connecting the dots for our clients.
Serving as a project manager, your day-to-day role as a NYSTEC consultant will include being responsible for leading and managing a project team through the entire life cycle of an implementation. It will include managing project scope, timeline, budget, and resources, as well as providing leadership and guidance to project team members. You will assess client needs and manage client expectations, while balancing the team's goals and objectives.
Key Responsibilities


  • Lead and manage software development and/or system modernization projects from concept to completion.

  • Determine and define project and task scope and objectives.

  • Develop and manage a detailed project work plan and project schedule.

  • Track project timelines and progress.

  • Work closely with the project team and external stakeholders (including client business/program stakeholders and client vendor teams) to ensure that key project milestones are achieved in a timely manner.

  • Develop, maintain, and execute a project communication plan.

  • Develop and deliver presentations for project stakeholders.

  • Proactively work with project stakeholders to create meeting agendas to help drive projects forward.

  • Capture effective meeting minutes to accurately document outcomes, action items, and decisions.

  • Effectively facilitate project meetings, as needed.

  • Provide project updates relating to progress, risks, and any potential issues on a consistent basis to various stakeholders.

  • Organize, track, and address (as needed) action items, risks, issues, and key decisions with the client throughout the project.

  • Work with project stakeholders to identify and mitigate risks to the project.

  • Use industry best practices, techniques, and standards in executing the project.

  • Measure project performance to identify areas for improvement.


About you:
Required Qualifications


  • Familiarity with project management software tools, methodologies, and best practices.

  • Ability to complete projects according to outlined scope, budget, quality, and timeline.

  • Experience with managing large-scale projects with multiple teams from other organizations.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communications skills.

  • Ability to develop and manage relationships with stakeholders and to understand their needs through active listening and collaborative thinking.

  • Ability to creatively solve problems.

  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.

  • Excellent organizational and planning skills.

  • Ability to learn and apply new content and skills and adapt to evolving client needs.

  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite of products, including Project.


Preferred/Desired Qualifications


  • Experience working on information technology projects.

  • Project management professional (PMP) certification.

  • Knowledge of agile methodologies, such as scrum and Kanban.


Education and Experience


  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field and four years of related experience.

  • An equivalent combination of advanced education, training, and experience will be considered.


The target base salary for this position is $79,793 - $109,716 per year. When determining compensation, we analyze and carefully consider several factors, including skill set, experience, location, and job-related qualifications.
