Job Title: Web Software Developer, Senior

Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled Web Software Developer, Senior to support the client in its Unemployment Insurance (UI) Modernization efforts. The successful candidate will play a key role in assisting with the development, implementation, and maintenance of software applications that support UI modernization. This is a dynamic, fast-paced role where you will collaborate with cross-functional teams, work on both existing applications and new developments, and help implement solutions that scale for state-wide adoption.

Key Responsibilities

Software Development and Engineering



  • Design, develop, test, and enhance software components for UI Modernization systems and additional development activities in a DOL-centric hosted modular framework.
  • Follow software engineering best practices and approved methodologies to deliver high-quality, scalable, and secure applications.
  • Provide support for software maintenance, enhancement, and security patching for applications in production.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and state IT staff to develop and implement custom solutions that meet business requirements.


Application Architecture and Design



  • Participate in software architecture design and platform support, ensuring applications meet both DOL and state UI business needs.
  • Develop and implement strategies for system performance monitoring and improvement.
  • Assist in the design and integration of databases and back-end services, ensuring data is securely processed and transferred.


Collaborative Development



  • Work as part of integrated SCRUM teams, collaborating with cross-DOL team members, federal staff, and other contractors.
  • Engage in daily stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives, and other SCRUM ceremonies.
  • Participate in peer reviews of code, test plans, and other development artifacts.


Application Deployment and Support



  • Develop deployment plans for new applications and ensure smooth implementation and support post-deployment.
  • Provide Tier 3 help desk support, troubleshooting issues and resolving data exchange problems between DOL-operated interfaces and state systems.


Testing and Quality Assurance



  • Develop and execute application testing plans, including user acceptance, performance, and end-to-end testing.
  • Support automated testing initiatives and contribute to the enhancement of testing frameworks to ensure application quality.
  • Collaborate with QA and DevOps teams to ensure that applications are thoroughly tested and meet the Government's quality standards


State IT Implementation Assistance



  • Provide software engineering and development support to State UI IT Implementation Assistance Teams.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of common solutions for state-level challenges in UI modernization.
  • Contribute to the development of statistical reports, graphs, and executive presentations for project and state leaders.


Operations and Maintenance Support



  • Provide ongoing operations and maintenance (O&M) support, including configuration management, database management, and troubleshooting application issues.
  • Work with the DOL team to ensure applications are up-to-date, secure, and in compliance with the latest standards and best practices.


Qualifications



  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.





  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in web software development, including experience with both front-end and back-end development.





  • Proven experience working in an Agile/SCRUM environment, with knowledge of SCRUM methodologies and software development life cycles (SDLC).





  • Strong proficiency in web technologies, including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and front-end frameworks (e.g., React, Angular).





  • Proficient in back-end development, including experience with server-side languages (e.g., Java, C#, Node.js).





  • Knowledge of databases (SQL/NoSQL), including designing and managing database schemas and queries.





  • Familiarity with cloud-based infrastructure (e.g., AWS, Azure) and hybrid IT environments.





  • Experience in DevOps processes, automated deployment, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.





  • Familiarity with security standards and best practices for web application development.





  • Experience with UI/UX design principles and user-centered design processes.





  • Familiarity with configuration management and change management tools (e.g., JIRA, Git, Jenkins).





  • Experience with reporting tools and statistical analysis (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).





  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage with internal stakeholders and external state teams.





  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot issues and propose effective solutions.





  • Ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively in cross-functional teams.





  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality software.



Compensation and Benefits

The projected compensation range for this position is $125,000 to $140,000 per year benchmarked in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. The targe salary for this position is $133,000. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. Salary at LCG is determined by various factors, including but not limited to role, location, the combination of education/training, knowledge, skills, competencies, certifications, and work experience.
