The Graphic Designer will play a key role in supporting the social media team at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. This position involves working closely with the social media team to conceptualize, develop, and execute visually compelling content for various social media platforms.

The designer will contribute to larger social media initiatives such as campaigns, paid media efforts, and other digital strategies. Responsibilities include creating engaging graphics, illustrations, image manipulation, and layouts tailored to social media audiences while ensuring alignment with the organization's branding and communication goals. Additionally, the designer may provide design services for faculty, staff, and leadership, including but not limited to data visualization, typesetting, and general design needs

Job Responsibilities:

  • Create complex media (illustrations, graphics, text layout) to meet design specifications for presentation and publication.
  • Collaborate to develop and maintain a digital file structure (as needed in role) that effectively support routine workload and special projects.
  • Provide creative and high-quality editing to ensure final product meets or exceeds quality standards.
  • Provide project estimates and enter interdepartmental charge-backs within the service center databases.
  • Stay abreast of the latest changes, trends and technological advancements in the industry.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to meet the goals and objectives of the department and institution.
  • Maintains regular and predictable attendance.

Minimum Education and/or Training:

  • Bachelor's degree in design, art or related field required.
  • Master's degree or PhD preferred.

Minimum Experience:

  • Minimum Requirement: 2+ years of experience in design, art, or related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in the field of graphic arts, digital imaging or related areas.
  • Proven performance in earlier role/comparable role.

Special skills, knowledge, and abilities:

  • Preferred skills and tools include experience with industry-standard design software such as Adobe Creative Suite, as well as familiarity with social media-specific tools like Canva or other content creation platforms.
  • Knowledge of video editing software, motion graphics and basic animation is a plus.
  • An understanding of social media trends, platform-specific design best practices and the ability to create content optimized for paid media and campaigns is highly desirable.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills are also preferred to effectively partner with the social media team and other stakeholders.

Compensation

In recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $54,080 - $94,640 per year for the role of Graphic Designer.
