SUMMARY:

Performs diagnostic sonographic examinations utilizing ultrasonic equipment to locate, evaluate, and record critical functional, pathological, and anatomical data. Schedules and coordinates tests, records test results, and prepares and maintains operational logs. Calibrates and maintains equipment and orders supplies when needed Photographs medical phenomena of eye to document diseases, surgeries, treatments, and congenital problems, to aid Ophthalmologists in the diagnosis and treatment of eye disorders. Focuses specialized microscope and cameras to take two-and three-dimensional photographs of external, anterior, and posterior segments of eye. Monitors patient's gaze through lens of microscope and camera to ensure that patient complies with instructions to obtain desired results.

KEY RESULT AREAS (KRAs):

  • Use of ultrasound for A and B scans as requested by physician
  • Use of OCT and fundus camera
  • Performs fluorescent angiography, fundus photography, slit lamp and external photography, specular microscopy, and videography to document ophthalmic conditions and abnormalities.
  • Portrays pathology specified with appropriate focus and saturation.
  • Develops, mounts, crops or edits, and appropriately labels photographic material (slides, prints, or videos) for clinical documentation, scientific presentation or publication.
  • Select filters to modify light. Injects contrast medium into vein of patient and photographs fluorescent dye as it flows through retina or iris vessels to obtain angiogram of eye.
  • May photograph eye to document research studies.
  • Sorts, labels, logs, select stereo views, files, and distributes to appropriate parties all clinical material.
  • Order supplies and materials as needed by the photography unit. Maintains equipment in good operating condition.
  • Performs other duties and assignments as required
Requirements

Education & Experience

  • High school graduate, or equivalent Required
  • 3 to 5 years in an Ophthalmic or Optometry clinic Required
  • Must have full knowledge of the anatomy of the eye Required
  • 1 year of Ophthalmic OCTs, fundus photos, or external photography Preferred
