Description: The Technology Services Training Specialist designs and delivers technology training programs primarily for Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS) Central Office employees. This role helps ensure staff proficiency in technology tools, systems, and processes essential to the Division's operations. Additionally, the specialist creates clear, user-friendly documentation to support ongoing learning and system navigation. This position reports to the Director of Education and Business Application System Support. Qualifications: Education
- Bachelor's degree in a related field.
- Google Level I and II certification is preferred.
Experience
- 3-5 years of experience training adult end-users on system functionalities.
- 3-5 years of experience developing clear, comprehensive documentation (print, video, audio, etc.) on systems and processes.
- 3-5 years of experience in K-12 education, specifically in training staff, preferred.
Key Competencies: K-12 Technology Expertise - Deep understanding of educational technology tools, including but not limited to, Learning Management Systems (LMS), Student Information Systems (SIS), and productivity platforms (Google Suite, Microsoft Office, etc.).
- Training & Facilitation - Ability to design and deliver engaging, interactive training sessions for adult learners with varying levels of technical proficiency.
- Digital Content Creation - Proficiency in creating instructional videos, synchronous and asynchronous learning modules, and digital training materials using division-supported tools.
- Troubleshooting & Problem-Solving - Ability to diagnose and assist users with technical issues related to training topics.
- Adult Learning - Knowledge of andragogy theories and best practices for training professional staff.
- Documentation Development - Strong writing and instructional design skills for creating clear, user-friendly guides, tutorials, and manuals in different mediums.
- Clear & Effective Communication - Ability to explain complex technical concepts in a way that is accessible and engaging for non-technical users.
- Presentation & Public Speaking - Confidence in speaking to large and small groups, in-person and virtually.
- Feedback-Driven Approach - Willingness to gather and act on feedback to enhance training programs and materials.
Essential Functions:
- Develop and Conduct Training - Design, coordinate, and facilitate training sessions for staff, and administrators on various technology platforms and systems.
- Onboarding Support - Lead technology onboarding for new Central Office employees, ensuring familiarity with division tools and systems.
- Customize Training Plans - Tailor training programs to meet the needs of different Central Office departments and staff groups, ensuring alignment with operational and instructional goals.
- Ongoing Professional Development - Provide continuous learning opportunities, advanced training, and refresher courses to improve staff proficiency in ACPS tools, including maintain a division-wide calendar of ongoing, consistent and differentiated training opportunities for support staff.
- Create User Guides & Documentation-Develop clear, user-friendly materials in various formats, including quick reference guides, FAQs, and other digital resources.
- Maintain a Training Repository - Organize and manage an easily accessible library of training materials and documentation.
- Support Community Events - Support family and community events related to technology education, when appropriate.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
