SENIOR COLOR AND MATERIALS DESIGNER Area adidas Brand PURPOSE & OVERALL RELEVANCE FOR THE ORGANIZATION Work on Impactful Industry-Leading Executions: Play a key role in shaping cutting-edge apparel and footwear direction through color and material design. Drive Brand Innovation: Collaborate with North America creation teams and the global Creative Direction Function to build a forward-thinking, cohesive color and material strategy. Strategic Partnerships & Insights: Work closely with Color Directors, Business Unit Leads, and Material teams to gather insights and needs. Trendsetting & Market Influence: Identify and establish long-term and seasonal color and material trends that captivate creators and drive a modern and relevant retail representation. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Stay up to date on information needed to design consumer and brand relevant products through various sources: Trade fairs, cultural events, and sporting events, athlete insights Trade publications, general interest press, trend services, fashion and sportswear magazines and websites Verbally and visually presents color, new material, and trim ideas/details with clarity in small and large group meetings Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with various departments, including Trend & Insights, Product Design, BU color design teams to ensure cohesive visual communication Store checks, market visits, material fairs and team travel as provided Creating 3D concept representation, 3D assets, digital product information for an accurate development and decision-making process Drive and work with the global team in seasonal and long-term design direction for the brand with a specific North America focus within the following topics: Future Apparel and Footwear Color concepts and stories Apparel and Footwear Materials concepts and stories Accessories Color and Material Key person in defining, directing, & curating aforementioned design direction by, but not limited to: Providing trend forecasting content around colors and material relevant to our consumer and brand Providing advanced conceptual direction and allocation in developing materials with the Creative Direction Color, Material, & Graphic Teams, Product Design, & Development. Working with Local and Global counterparts to provide category relative Color and Material direction when required cross-location or cross-category alignment is concerned. Directs as a Color, Material conduit to Designers from the categories need in support of the direction for North America. Acts as a brand ambassador between all categories looking for opportunities to connect direction, product, and people Support to create, presents, and applies Creative Direction specific presentations Drives content to Concept To Consumer Team to enhance Creative Direction strategy and storytelling Support in providing a curated context, to enable success among the business with a North American consumer in mind. PRODUCT EXECUTION Drive Apparel/Footwear Color & Material executions for Creative Direction Exhibition. This includes but is not limited to: Vision and expectations for seasonal prep and research stated above Creates product design presentations; both physical and digital Travel to Asia for development trips (not always required) Drives, shapes, and informs communicating inspiration and storytelling tools to North America Creative communities. Assists in designing Footwear Color and Material executions for Inline and/or Key Account ranges with input from Design, Marketing, and Development. This includes but is not limited to Seasonal prep and research stated above Assists in creating color design presentations; both physical and digital. Exploratory process to reach final solution Creates Color CADs and Material Maps & Graphic Maps Works closely with material supplier to assist in development process and calendar deadlines per seasonal milestone. Assists in communicating inspiration and storytelling to BUs KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Computer Skills inclusive of: Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop Power Point/Key Note Apple Mac Operating system 3D not required, but beneficial Ability to understand design concepts and think conceptually Ability to create designs that meet category needs and commercial opportunities Ability to operate in a fast pace, ever changing work environment Works well in a team environment. This position requires employee to engage with many stakeholders, as well as manage various information and relationships Ability and desire to push themselves, others, and the brand forward. Ability to influence and collaborate with key business partners REQUISITE EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE / MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Min. 6 years of work experience in color, concept and/or materials design for apparel and/or footwear including university education Thorough knowledge of art and design with clear understanding of visual design or any design related environment Equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be substituted for degree' Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at adidas means championing individual uniqueness and cultivating a culture of belonging in which everyone can create at their best. The anticipated low and high end of the base pay range for this position is $140,000 to $165,000.
