Payments Strategy Consultant
The position will lead and/or support strategic initiatives identified by the Payments leadership team and the Payments Risk Governance Committee. This position will also provide strategic payments related support to partners in Commercial, Retail and Wealth Management. The Payments Strategy Consultant will stay abreast of emerging payment industry trends and provide insights and thought leadership in developing and recommending opportunities that enable and advance the Payments Business.
This position will act as a liaison with payments business partners and technology in the execution of payment initiatives. This position will work closely with executive and senior leaders across the Payments organization to drive business objectives. This position will need a solid understanding of future strategic payments initiatives across the corporation as well as external payments items (e.g. opportunities, threats, trends, etc.) based on industry and market events.
Position Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning
- Identify and recommend key strategic initiatives/investments that will grow Comerica's payments business.
- Support and/or facilitate strategic sessions involving the development of business objectives, product/business roadmap discussions, aligning business vision with division or enterprise strategies, aligning cross division business needs with enterprise solutions.
- Create and deliver executive presentations that communicate the problem statement, strategic approach, and recommendations clearly and concisely.
- Work with business managers and senior managers to ensure alignment with client requirements and industry trends during roadmap development.
Business Enablement
- Provide direct project leadership to ensure key strategic initiatives are executed in a timely and effective manner.
- Partner and coordinate with various internal resources including Product, Digital, Sales, Operations, Implementation, Risk, Technology, Finance and others to achieve goals.
- Collaborate with Product and Digital to innovate customer solutions.
- Collaborate with Operations to drive efficiencies through process improvement, automation, and enhanced controls.
- Engage consultants, vendors and other third parties as needed to achieve goals.
- Participate in customer forums to understand innovation needs.
Industry Engagement
- Utilize payments industry media outlets, conferences, key suppliers and select subscriptions to ensure awareness and engagement in key payments industry related topics.
- Identify and communicate emerging trends in payments and assess the potential impact of this information to Comerica.
- Coordinate, consolidate and communicate key payments industry topics with internal payments stakeholders (e.g. Federal Reserve requests for comment on strategic initiatives).
- Represent Comerica, as directed, on industry working groups associated with strategic payments initiatives to understand market trends.
- Other duties as assigned.
Position Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university or 7 years of relevant experience
- At least 5 years of experience in Product Management, Project Management, or Payment Operations experience
- At least 5 years of experience in Strategic Planning experience
- At least 5 years of experience in U.S. Payments (ACH, Card, Wire, Check, and Real-Time Payments) business experience
- At least 5 years of experience in Managing or working with Matrix teams
- At least 3 years of experience using Microsoft PowerPoint and Microsoft Excel
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Work Best Category: Category C - Days in the office will either be designated days or will vary week to week from 2-5 days
Hours: 8:00am - 5:00pm Monday - Friday
Salary:
For candidates hired in the state of California, Colorado, Illinois, or New York the expected salary/On-Target Earnings (OTE) range for the role is currently:
- California - $108,900 - $231,250 Annually
- Colorado - $99,000 - $185,000 Annually
- Illinois - $99,000 - $185,500 Annually
- New York - $123,750- $231,250 Annually
