Business Job Title: Regulatory Engineer

Job Summary:

As a member of the Regulatory Team, the candidate will play an active role in the product development team, working with the concurrent engineering approach using an NPD process.

Reporting to the Regulatory Engineering Manager and working in close collaboration with the Department Certification Engineers and the product development and qualification teams, the Regulatory Engineer is responsible for the certification and regulatory compliance of new products in development as well as technical updates to existing products.

Position is an on-site role, with minimal travel domestic and international.

Job Responsibilities:



  • Contribute to certification projects from application to final certification on various certifications from multiple certification bodies. (examples: UL, ETL, Energy Star, NRCan, DOE, HVI, and any other required listing and certifications)
  • Participate in the development of product certification test plans (DVP&R).
  • Monitor certification activities, tests, and deliverables.
  • Review, analyze, and approve data and test reports.
  • Prepare regulatory documentation and deliverables and present them to the certification authorities.
  • Supporting the NPD teams in regulatory and certification aspects
  • Support product testing accreditations audits (example: UL Client Test Data Program).
  • Participate in planning and prioritization meetings and document the progress of tasks and projects under your responsibility.
  • Structure and organize work and plan associated deliverables according to project requirements.
  • Support in regulatory monitoring, implementation, and compliance with new applicable standards.
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects for tools, processes, and procedures.


Job Requirements:



  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field
  • Experience in product certification and/or compliance
  • Experience with UL, CSA, ETL standards and organizations.
  • Knowledge of Proposition 65, REACH, RoHS, chemical regulations a plus
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 and ISO17025 standards a plus
  • Excellent analytical sense, rigor, and discipline.
  • Strong interest in product certifications and regulations (safety, performance, government)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Practical experience in a validation and testing environment a plus.
  • Experience with household appliances and ventilation products a plus.
  • Initiative, autonomy, and ability to work under a set of guidelines and general objectives and deliver the expected services and deliverables.
  • Knowledge of the MS Office suite.


Physical Requirements:



  • Perform work using a computer for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to move safely throughout facility.
