The Institute for Cardiovascular Health is a clinical partnership between Ascension Seton and UT Health Austin, the clinical practice of the Dell Medical School at The University of Texas at Austin.

About The ICU Nocturnal Advanced Practice Provider

The Dell Medical School, in conjunction with Ascension Texas, is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider to be part of the Institute for Cardiovascular Health. These individuals will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to serve the growing need of the regional adult population to deliver world class adult cardiovascular and thoracic surgical care. In close collaboration with supervising physicians, the Advanced Practice Provider provides for the expansion of individualized healthcare services by diagnosing and treating adult cardiovascular and thoracic conditions.

Responsibilities:

  • Obtains patient history and performs assessment via observation, interview and examination. Orders, performs and interprets diagnostic studies. Performs health assessments, screening, and patient care.

  • Provides direct treatment and management of conditions via prescriptive authority or referral to other healthcare providers or community resources.

  • Counsels and educates patients and their families/caregivers concerning health conditions, treatment options and community resources.

  • Documents delivery of health care and nursing processes in accordance with specific specialty area standards and network nursing policy.

  • Participates in orientation and education of staff and students.

  • Other related functions as assigned

Required:

  • Graduate of one of the following accredited training programs and board certified by the respective accreditation body.

    • Physician Assistant with board certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) and licensed through the Texas Medical Board.

    • Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner with Prescriptive Authority and board certification through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Board (AANPCB) or American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) and licensed through the Texas Board of Nursing.

Preferred:

  • Cardiovascular and thoracic experience preferred.

  • Ability to work efficiently and flexibly in a fast-paced environment with minimal guidance.

  • Ability to address individuals and information with a high degree of sensitivity and confidentiality in various situations.

  • Capacity to work well with physicians and other care providers as part of a multi-disciplinary healthcare delivery team.

Salary Range

$120,000+ depending on qualifications

Employment Eligibility:

Retirement Plan Eligibility:

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
