Supervise the daily operations of patient intake and/or admissions, which may include call and referral management, scheduling of assessments and admissions, completion of benefit verification, and prioritization of completion of all pre-certifications.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:



  • For assigned shift will plan, assign, supervise, and perform preferred duties to ensure patient safety and the efficiency of the department.
  • Prioritization of potential admissions, considering patient needs and the facility's capability and capacity to meet those needs appropriately manner.
  • Knowledge of milieu management.
  • Knowledge of appropriate clinical assessment, diagnoses, and interventions with patients.
  • Coordination with the business office to ensure that timely and accurate financial counseling of patients occurs when appropriate.
  • Provide guidance and direction to staff and encourage/build mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members.
  • Ensure that EMTALA logs, if applicable, is completed for each patient seen by admissions.
  • Participate in staff training by serving as a preceptor for new admission team employees.
  • Report shift challenges promptly to AOC, or Admissions Director.
  • Demonstrate a positive, empathetic, and professional attitude toward customers always. When patient needs are not met, acknowledge and work to resolve complaints. Recognize that patient safety is a top priority.

  • Perform other functions and tasks as assigned.



Key Responsibilities:

* Demonstrate expertise in milieu management to create a conducive environment for patients.

* Apply clinical assessment, diagnoses, and interventions knowledge appropriately with patients.

* Coordinate with the business office to ensure timely and accurate financial counseling for patients, as needed.

* Provide guidance and direction to staff, fostering trust, respect, and cooperation within the team.

* Ensure completion of EMTALA logs, if applicable, for each patient seen by admissions.

* Act as a preceptor during staff training, supporting the development of new admission team employees.

* Promptly report any challenges during shifts to the Admissions Operations Coordinator or Admissions Director.

* Maintain a positive, empathetic, and professional attitude towards customers at all times.

* Address and resolve complaints promptly to ensure patient satisfaction and safety.

Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree in a social service field is preferred.

* Master's degree in a social services field or RN preferred.

* In some states, may also require registration as a nurse, in which case, an associate's or bachelor's degree in nursing is required.

* One or more years of experience in a healthcare admissions role is preferred.

* One or more years of supervisory/lead experience in a healthcare admissions setting is preferred.

Licenses/Designations/Certifications:

* CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification preferred (training available upon hire and offered by the facility).

* First aid certification may be preferred based on state or facility requirements.
