The registered nurse, adheres to the rules and regulations of the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing. is primarily responsible for professional performance and direct patient care. The role encompasses nursing assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, evaluation, and coordination of care for patients and their families across the health care continuum. The registered nurse is accountable for clinical, educational, quality and fiscal patient care outcomes using the model of care designed by the nursing department and in accordance with established agency policies, procedures, protocols, guidelines and standards of practice.

Additional Residency Requirements: The residency program is a fourteen week program requiring a 40hr a week commitment. Hours are varied during the residency to ensure orientees are exposed to as much learning time as possible. The schedule will include 8 hours of dedicated classroom time and 32 hours of hands on patient care weekly. Ideal candidates will have at least 2 years of nursing experience, telemetry experience preferred. Candidates will have to provide a short, written summery relating to why they want to pursue critical care nursing. (500 words) Upon completion of the residency program, participants will be converted to a permanent staff RN position within the CCU.
