UCSF Health is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Hospital Assistant III to join our Cancer Services team. Under the supervision of the Administrative Nurse Manager and Medical Assistant Supervisor, the Hospital Assistant III will support the delivery of care in multiple ambulatory group practices, ensuring positive patient outcomes. This role involves assisting with clinical procedures, patient care, and administrative tasks across various Cancer Center locations, including multiple campuses and satellite offices.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide clinical support: document patient information, obtain vital signs, assist in medical procedures, and maintain infection control standards.
• Collaborate with providers and staff to prepare for exams and procedures.
• Perform sterile processing procedures and assist in complex medical treatments (e.g., Laser, TRUS, Colposcopy).
• Manage patient flow, transportation, and referrals.
• Perform Point-of-Care Testing, specimen collection, and laboratory procedures.
• Maintain exam rooms, labs, and equipment while ensuring supply readiness.
• Coordinate medication authorizations, procedure scheduling, and insurance verification.
• Provide outstanding patient service, adhering to UCSF's PRIDE values: Professionalism, Respect, Integrity, Diversity, and Excellence.

Department Description

UCSF's Temporary Employment Program (TEP) recruits and hires temporary employees for immediate clerical and technical support services to UCSF Departments and various off-campus locations. UCSF departments deploy temporary employees to work on special projects, fill in for regular employees who are on vacation or leave, or to temporarily fill a vacant position during recruitment. Frequently temporary employees become successful candidates for career and limited appointment positions.

Required Qualifications

• 2 - 3 years of experience as a Medical Assistant/Hospital Assistant in a medical practice.
• Current American Heart Association CPR Certification

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of insurance verification and medical record data abstraction.
• Degree from an accredited medical assisting school.
• Bi-lingual or multi-lingual proficiency (e.g., Spanish, Cantonese, Russian).
• California Phlebotomy Certification (CPT1).

License/Certification

• Current American Heart Association CPR Certification
