SUMMARY The Data Scientist plays a pivotal role in planning, executing, and delivering machine learning-based projects. The bulk of the work will be in machine learning (ML) modelling, management and problem analysis, data exploration and preparation, data collection and integration, operationalization. This position will support various members of analytics leadership in developing and executing long term data driven strategies. The Data Scientist will be a key interface between the Decision Support and Analytics team, their business partners, and various other departments, such as IT and Data Management.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Guides and inspires the organization about the business potential and strategy of artificial intelligence. Identifies data-driven/ML business opportunities. Collaborates across the business to understand IT and business constraints. Prioritizes, scopes, and manages data science projects and the corresponding key performance indicators (KPIs) for success. Applies statistical analysis and visualization techniques to various data, such as hierarchical clustering, T-distributed Stochastic Neighbor Embedding (t-SNE), Principal Components Analysis (PCA) Machine Learning. Generates hypotheses about the underlying mechanics of the business process. Tests hypotheses using various quantitative methods. Displays drive and curiosity to understand the business process to its core. Networks with domain experts to better understand the business mechanics that generated the data. Applies various ML and advanced analytics techniques to perform classification or prediction tasks. Integrates domain knowledge into the ML solution; for example, from an understanding of financial risk, customer journey, quality prediction, etc. Tests ML models, such as cross-validation, A/B testing, bias, and fairness. Collaborates with Data Engineers and IT stake olders to evaluate and implement ML deployment options. Monitors execution and health of production ML models. Establishes best practices around ML production infrastructure. Trains other business and IT staff on basic data science principles and techniques. Trains peers on specialist data science topics. Networks with internal and external partners. Upskills through conferences, publications, courses, local academia, and meetups. Promotes collaboration with other teams within the organization.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Extensive knowledge of object-oriented programming (OOP) such as Python, C# or Java/JavaScript. Extensive knowledge of Structured Query Language (SQL). Data Visualization platforms such as Tableau or Power BI. Knowledge of version control systems such as GIT. Be self-driven, curious, and creative. Demonstrated track record of working with diverse, cross-functional teams in a dynamic business environment. Confident, energetic self-starter, with strong moderation and communication skills. Ability to exhibit superior presentation skills, including storytelling and other techniques to guide and inspire. Ability to effectively communicate results and recommendations to stakeholders and executive leadership.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's Degree in Math, Data Science, Economics or related field required Master's Degree preferred 1-3 years experience as a data science in an advanced analytics role with relevant project work in a formal education setting required
