Job Description

I. Responsibilities:

The Vice President, Tax is responsible for leading the Tax function of the Nidec Americas Holding Corporation ("NAHC") Shared Service Center reporting directly to the NAHC President.

Responsibilities include:

Serve as a trusted advisor to the business, provide advice to achieve cash tax savings and minimize the global effective tax rate while complying fully with the laws of all relevant jurisdictions. Responsible for all domestic, international, and indirect taxes including tax compliance, income tax accounting, tax planning, acquisitions and divestitures, and tax audits. Lead change for standardization and automation of tax processes to gain efficiencies. Evaluate existing processes, identify opportunities for improvement, and implement approved changes. Ensure all tax returns and payments are timely and accurately filed. Supervise the quarterly income tax provision process and income tax controls to ensure the accurate reporting of the Company's effective tax rate and deferred tax computations. Collaborate with cross functional teams and stakeholders on merger, acquisition, and divestiture transactions. Provide advice on tax efficient structuring and funding. Lead tax due diligence activities and identify and effectively communicate tax considerations. Lead, mentor, and develop team of tax professionals. Research and provide advice on technical tax issues. Monitor tax legislation, analyze the impact, recommend and implement responsive action plans. Prepare and adhere to the Tax department's annual budget.

II. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field
  • J.D., or Master of Science in Taxation (MST), preferred
  • CPA required
  • 12+ years of relevant multinational corporate tax experience with a Fortune 500 company, law firm and/or CPA firm
  • Proven track record of leadership and change management
  • Significant income tax accounting (ASC740, IAS 12) and tax planning experience
  • Strong experience with M&A, legal entity restructuring, international tax, and transfer pricing
  • Strong analytical, strategic, and technical skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to partner with, educate, and influence business leaders regarding critical tax issues. Customer service-oriented focus.

IV. Relationship:

The Vice President, Tax will report to the NAHC President. This position has three direct reports and eight indirect reports.

The following positions report directly to the Vice President, Tax:

  • Director, Federal Tax
  • Director, International Tax
  • Director, State & Local Tax
