Job Summary:



The University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus Department of Psychiatry has an available Research Services Professional (Data Integration Specialist) position in the Division of Addiction Science, Prevention, and Treatment. We are a highly motivated team that conducts transdisciplinary research exploring factors linked with health and cannabis use.

This position will support research projects in the Cannabis, Health, and Addiction Over the lifeSpan (CHAOS) lab (PI: Kent Hutchison, PhD). Our research is focused on understanding how cannabinoids like CBD and THC influence the endocannabinoid system which in turn influences the immune system and the brain. The CHAOS lab has several current clinical trials investigating the effects of Cannabidiol (CBD) in varying subject populations, which include individuals with Alcohol Use Disorder, Opioid Use Disorder, those at risk for Alzheimer's Disease, and individuals with Traumatic Brain Injuries. Dr. Hutchison also serves as the director of the Rocky Mountain Cannabis Research Center (RM-CRC), a National Institute for Drug Abuse Center for Excellence at the University of Colorado. The mission of the RM-CRC is to accelerate research on the risks and benefits of cannabis and cannabinoids.

The Data Integration Specialist will be responsible for extracting, harmonizing, and managing data from multiple research projects to create a unified and consistent data set. This role requires expertise in data integration, database management, and research data compliance. This position also involves developing, deploying, and monitoring ecological momentary assessment (EMA) data collection systems to capture real-time data for research purposes.

This position is expected to last 18 months, with the potential to be extended based on program needs.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Extract and harmonize data from multiple projects, ensuring consistency and accuracy across datasets.
  • Design and implement processes for integrating data into a single, comprehensive database.
  • Collaborate with research teams to understand data requirements and tailor data solutions accordingly.
  • Develop, deploy, and monitor ecological momentary assessment (EMA) data collection systems, including troubleshooting and optimizing workflows.
  • Create and maintain documentation for data integration workflows and EMA protocols and provide technical support and training to research team members on these processes.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant data security and privacy regulations, including the Health Information Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
  • Conduct quality checks and resolve discrepancies to ensure data integrity.
  • Contribute to the development of new data collection methodologies and tools.

Onsite - This role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, Colorado.

Qualifications:



Minimum Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in bioinformatics, biostatistics, computational biology, data science, computer science or related field.

    • A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.




Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:



  • Master's degree in bioinformatics, biostatistics, computational biology, data science, computer science or related field.
  • Experience analyzing data using high-performance computing.
  • Experience with data management and electronic data capturing systems such as REDCap.
  • Experience collaborating with clinical researchers and project managers.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:



  • Strong knowledge of basic statistical principles relevant in medical research.
  • Ability to analyze and solve complex problems and apply quantitative analytical approaches.
  • Demonstrated fluency in one or more programming languages (e.g., R, Python, Perl, Java, C++) and willingness to learn new programming languages as necessary.
  • Familiarity with statistical analytical concepts and methods.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
  • Outstanding customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment and leadership ability to advance diversity and inclusion.

Anticipated Pay Range:



The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as $50,864 - $64,699.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
