JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS: The Smeal College of Business seeks an experienced Academic Adviser to work in a fast-paced, high energy academic environment. Extensive knowledge of university policy and procedures that apply to the matriculation and the academic, personal, and professional development of undergraduate students is required. The responsibilities of this individual include:
This position requires interaction with the Accounting department, Integrated MAcc director, students, parents, faculty, and various college staff members and may require occasional weekend and evening hours. Other duties include meeting with prospective students and families and participating in various college programs such as New Student Orientation, Accepted Student Programs, Spend A Summer Day, and other programs as assigned. Requires a master's degree, plus 6 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The successful candidate will have a strong background in academic advising with a proven track record and commitment to serving diverse student populations.Competencies critical to success include excellent interpersonal and communication skills; strong attention to detail; commitment to honor and integrity; sensitivity to the needs of others; ability to work independently and as part of a team; effective knowledge of computer applications, including excel, and efficiently manage time, balance multiple responsibilities, and adapt to change. Experience with Smeal undergraduate advising preferred.
