Vaco is working with a dynamic and growing client in Phoenix to find a strong IT Leader with a background across applications, infrastructure and system support. As the IT leader, you will lead a team of 3-4 individuals responsible for supporting our operations that span across six states. This role will involve travel to various locations a few times per year or as needed. As the Director of IT, you will provide leadership and management to the InformationTechnology department in its charge to supply, operate, and maintain computing, networks, hardware, facilities,
equipment, and services that meet the needs of the company. You will be responsible for all aspects ofIT management and control, including supervision of IT employees; budget preparation and management;
recommendations for technology acquisitions; and development of guidelines, standards, and procedures. You will lead strategic planning, tactical action, and operational decision-making to fulfill the mission of the IT department and company. Core Job Functions:
  • Provide leadership and management to the IT department
  • Work with the executive team to assess and respond to company needs, develop the company's long term technology strategy, and execute to the strategy
  • Oversee the hiring, training, and development of IT department personnel to meet the needs of the business
  • Supervise the ongoing operations of the IT department to promote quality and timely support to employees concerning hardware and software needs
  • Provide day-to-day supervision, conduct performance appraisals, and delegate work assignments for all IT personnel
  • Administer the department budget
  • Establish company infrastructure to support and guide divisions and departments in computing and information technology efforts
  • Identify emerging information technologies to be assimilated, integrated, and introduced within the company infrastructure
  • Oversee the development, design, and implementation of new applications and changes to existing computer systems and software platforms.
  • Supervise the ordering, acquisition, inventorying, and disposition of hardware and software agreements, and other major vendor relationships
  • Maintain the integrity and continual operation of the company's networks wireless or otherwise
  • Maintain security and privacy of the information systems, communication lines, and equipment
  • Develop, review, and certify all backup and disaster recovery procedures and plans
  • Work with operations management to ensure correct implementation and daily use of WMS and TMS programs to ensure overall efficiency and accuracy of procedures, inventory, and daily activities required to meet customers' Key Performance Indicators.
Position Qualifications:
  • Minimum of seven (7) years' experience in the Information Technology field
  • At least five (5) years in a managerial role overseeing an entire department
  • Experience in direct management of a major IT operation
  • Proven experience in IT infrastructure strategic planning and development, project management, and policy Development
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of WMS (Warehouse Management Systems), TMS (Transportation Management Systems), and accounting systems functionality.
  • Ability to successfully negotiate with vendors, contractors and others
  • Strong leadership and management skills
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Troubleshooting, problem solving, planning and organizing skills
  • Ability to conduct and direct research into IT issues and products
  • Ability to present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language
  • Highly self-motivated and self-directed
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
  • Superior understanding of the organization's goals and objectives
  • Demonstrated ability to apply IT in solving business problems
  • In-depth knowledge of applicable laws and regulations as they relate to IT
  • Responsible for coaching, mentoring and performance-managing direct reports
  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology or related field

  • the individual's skill sets, experience and training;
  • licensure and certification requirements;

With that said, as required by local law, Vaco believes that the following salary range referenced above reasonably estimates the base compensation for an individual hired into this position in geographies that require salary range disclosure. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
