Responsibilities

Mountain Youth Academy (a UHS company) is seeking a RTI Educational teacher to join our current education team.

Mountain Youth Academy is centrally located near Johnson City, TN, Boone, NC, and Abingdon, VA. We are a 120-bed residential treatment facility and assist in the evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of behavioral health issues for our young adolescent patients. Our in-house school is licensed as a non-public school by the State of Tennessee.

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for planning and providing instruction for students in need of RTI services. Participates in departmental meetings and completes paperwork pertaining to assessment, individualized education plans, monitoring student progress, write lesson plans that reflect instruction goals that support the state standards for student's grade level and/or IEP goals, report student progress, and transition planning as related to each student's educational needs. Provides education case management for students assigned to his/her classroom. Must maintain ongoing communication with the families and involved agencies for each student.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Maintain attendance and intervention logs for each student receiving intervention
  • Collaborate with teachers on which students need interventions and areas of need
  • Perform diagnostic testing every two weeks for students receiving interventions
  • Complete ROI and GAP analysis worksheets for each student based on diagnostic scores
  • Must provide individualized instruction for all students assigned to classroom and provide necessary accommodations as prescribed by the IEP as evidenced by lesson plan submitted to Director of Education on a weekly basis.

Qualifications

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

Must hold a valid Tennessee Teaching License. Must have a good working knowledge of Tennessee Special Education regulations, IEP development and behavior management techniques. Previous classroom experience in a mental health setting is preferred.
