SUMMARY KW Renewable Engineering is looking for an amazingly talented Project Engineer to join our Structural team! In this role, you will be exposed to a full range of structural engineering projects which include the design and detailing of civil site structures, power generation plant structures and foundations, water resource structures, building structures and a variety of renewable energy installations. In this role, the Project Engineer provides engineering support to our diverse project teams. At this level, this individual will be expected to be able to take ownership of the design and detailing and timely management of project deadlines and deliverables with some assistance as needed from senior staff. The individual must understand current building and all respective material codes to design and prepare technical engineering plans in collaboration with technicians to complete technical design plans. The project engineer will help in all technical aspects of projects, conduct engineering research, assessments, and coordinate with private consultants and public agencies. RESPONSIBILITIES
- Carries out tasks assigned by the Project Lead and engineering team.
- Uses engineering judgment to perform duties and knows when to ask questions, seek assistance or perform independent research.
- Manages personal time allotted to various tasks to meet the obligations of one or more projects, including budget, quality, and schedule.
- Able to communicate and coordinate with proprietary product manufacturers to properly specify, design and detail respective supports, connections, and or anchorage of such structures to foundations at grade and or roof top structures comprised of varying materials.
- Manages the development of working drawings with drafting technician support for structural design plans in AutoCAD for various projects with an emphasis on steel and concrete structures, mat foundation and pile supported structures and equipment anchorage.
- Determination of project structural design criteria per ASCE 7,
- Effectively interacts with peers, clients, and sub-consultant.
- Willingness and ability to learn other Civil design skills and respective software such as Agtek, for use with Hydrology/Hydraulic studies for respective projects and PVCase a software used to model utility scale ground mount installations
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering with a Structural emphasis or an equivalent level of experience
- 4+ years of experience in structural engineering with exposure to all basic building materials, (steel, concrete, wood. Experience with Masonry and Light Gauge Steel a plus)
- Engineering in training (EIT) required and PE preferred.
- General knowledge of computers, Microsoft office, Adobe, Internet, etc.
- Steel design, welding and bolted connection design, concrete and anchorage design, ASCE 7 load take-off experience
- Additional software experience a plus, e.g. Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Visual Analysis, RISA 3D, STAAD, RetainPro, or other structural design related software
- Ability to conduct job site walk and prepare detail punch list
- Proficiency in Structural FEM modeling software
