Summary:
The Sr Manager, Scientific Communications is responsible for supporting the development and maintenance of strategic and high-quality scientific messaging and related materials in support of internal clinical development and medical teams. This role serves as a resource for the company concerning scientific data, clinical trials, key scientific literature, and scientific messaging. A key element of this role will be to develop, QC, monitor, and update relevant materials for strategic and scientific accuracy and ensure consistent and effective communication of foundational scientific messaging that supports the medical strategy for EXPAREL, iovera, ZILRETTA, and products in the clinical pipeline.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by an individual assigned to this job. Other responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
  • Providing medical input and editorial oversight for the development of high quality and on strategic scientific communication
  • Assisting in the development and maintenance of Scientific Communications materials including materials and tools for clinical trial branding and the Clinical Trials Website
  • Collaborating with internal cross functional team stakeholders, clinical thought leaders and authors to ensure integrated, relevant, and strategic presentation of scientific data
  • Creating and organizing scientific communication materials to support internal and external initiatives including PP presentations, newsletters, Sharepoint, etc.
  • Managing and updating Clinical Affairs/Scientific Communication Sharepoint site
  • Assisting in the development and maintenance of the Scientific Platforms and Veeva integration for Pacira marketed and relevant pipeline products
  • Assisting in the identification and management of KOL faculty and planning and execution of Clinical Steering Committees
  • Building and maintaining product and therapeutic area expertise with consistent monitoring of current literature
  • Assisting in the execution of publications, agreements, and compliance documents and approvals as needed
  • Executing compliant scientific communication plans and materials and support needs of internal stakeholders
  • Supporting Clinical Affairs and Medical teams as needed
  • Managing work with outside vendors and consultants as needed
  • Performing literature searches as needed
  • Assisting in budgeting and the development and execution of contracts as needed
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position does not have supervisory responsibility.
Interaction:
The incumbent will report to the AD/Sr. Director, Scientific Communications, and work closely across all functional areas and directly with the clinical, medical and commercial teams, including HEOR, Clinical Operations, Regulatory, Medical Affairs, Business Development, and Marketing as well as vendors and consultants as needed.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree required; graduate degree in a scientific discipline preferred (e.g., MS, MPH), or doctorate level (e.g., MD, PhD, PharmD)
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of scientific writing/communications experience in Pharma/Biotech industry or Medical Communication agency (1 year for doctorate candidates)

  • Strong experience in developing and delivering scientific presentations and publications.
  • Proficiency in conducting literature searches, interpreting scientific data, and translating findings into clear communications.
  • Ability to synthesize complex scientific information into clear, strategic messaging.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to engage with stakeholders at all organizational levels.
  • Demonstrated capability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Advanced written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Expertise in Microsoft PowerPoint; proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to work effectively across functions and teams in a collaborative environment.
  • Knowledge of therapeutic areas related to postsurgical pain management and surgical disciplines preferred.

Location:
This position is based in the Parsippany, NJ office, with a hybrid schedule that includes three in-office days per week, determined in collaboration with the supervising manager.
