NDT Technician Level II

Overview of the Position:

The Level II Technician will be performing calibrations, Nondestructive Tests, and evaluations for acceptance or rejection determinations according to written instructions and record results. Level II Technicians are qualified to set up and calibrate equipment and to interpret and evaluate results with respect to applicable codes, standards, and specifications

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Set up and calibrate nondestructive testing equipment.
  • Locate work under scribe on parts and match paper to part.
  • Use chemical cleaners like MEK, mineral spirits and alcohol to clean parts as needed.
  • Conduct tests to ensure quality or detect discontinuities (defects) using NDT methods of


  • inspection.


  • Establish techniques for proper examination of objects under inspection, ensuring strict


  • adherence to safety regulations.


  • Apply testing criteria in accordance with applicable specifications or standards and evaluate results.



Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:



  • Must speak, read and write the English language.
  • Should have basic computer software and keyboarding skills.
  • Prior knowledge of AS9110 Quality Policy and Procedures.
  • NDT NAS-410 Level II Certification (PT, MT)



Education / Experience Requirements:



  • Must have H.S. Diploma or GED

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

The physical demands described here are representatives of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.




  • Is occasionally required to sit, stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl; and lift up to 80 pounds. Is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and work in moderate levels of noise.
  • Has clear vision and can pass a Jaeger No. I at not less than 12" (30.48 cm)
  • Able to pass a physical exam, Pulmonary Function Test (PFT), Fit Test, and to wear a respirator.
  • Personnel shall be capable of adequately distinguishing and differentiating colors used in the process involved.
