WHO WE ARE
Hotels done differently. It's not a slogan or catchphrase; it's who we are in everything we do. We believe in the power of People, Place, and Character. We ensure our hotels are a place where individuals are valued and celebrated, elevating our associates' pride in who they are, where they live, and who we serve. Our hotel is a tribute to the neighborhoods and the people of the communities where we operate.
The MC Hotel is part of Marriott's Autograph Collection, bringing an authentic experience to the heart of Montclair, New Jersey, for the first time in decades. The 159-room, ground-up development opened in 2019, complete with a restaurant, rooftop bar featuring unparalleled views of Manhattan, and a curated lobby market. The MC Hotel serves as a central hub for visitors and residents of Montclair, a city known for its arts and creativity.
The hotel is managed by Aparium Hotel Group, founded in 2011. Driven by the belief that all hospitality experiences should be fueled by the poetics of their surroundings, Aparium was born with an intense focus on unearthing amazing moments unique to every city. Since its founding, Aparium has grown into a new kind of hotel brand, one that ventures off the beaten path, both geographically and philosophically. It combines the business acumen of large hospitality companies with the charm of boutique hotels, bringing these forces together in smaller markets.
WHO YOU ARE
Your past experiences have led you to understand that there is an art + science to the hospitality operation. You delight in the smiles you share and the positive experiences you create. You feel comfortable when things get busy, and making smart, in-the-moment decisions comes naturally. Above all, your mission is to spread joy to all you encounter, especially when crafting specialty drinks. You're energized by your interactions with people, and there's nothing more satisfying than making our customers smile.
THE ROLE
The Server reports to the F&B Managers and works in a team environment with other F&B professionals, including servers, server assistants, bar-backs, bartenders, dishwashers, cooks, and chefs. This position requires advanced service techniques, time management skills, and expert-level knowledge of wine.
As a full time server, you will be responsible for creating memorable guest experiences. You will be in charge of the timely and friendly delivery of food and drinks, ensuring safe service to guests with allergies and restrictions. Ongoing beverage tasting and training will allow you to expand your knowledge of beer, wine, and spirits, and you'll have the opportunity to create and host these types of classes.
All of our service team members are expected to be reliable and responsible. You will arrive to your shift in uniform, polished, and mentally ready to work. We emphasize treating all team members just as we treat our guests-with a smile, a helping hand, and a willingness to assist in any situation.
You will also actively develop trusting and transparent relationships with your peers on the service team and other associates. As a member of Aparium Hotel Group, you will work with a phenomenal group of peers who are collaborative, humble, experienced, and open-minded-no egos allowed.
WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Be collaborative with your co-workers and leaders, using your intuition to fix things when necessary.
  • Be a storyteller of the history of the hotel and share our hospitality efforts with local collaborators and partners.
  • Participate in daily lineups and quarterly all-staff meetings to provide feedback, strategize improvements, and celebrate successes.
  • Assist in all aspects of the F&B guest experience from beginning to end, including greeting guests, stocking bar products, and ensuring satisfaction.
  • Oversee maintenance and cleanliness of decanters, wine stations, and storage areas.
  • Work in an organized and clean fashion, respecting guests, peers, and equipment to create lasting impressions.
  • Use steps of service to provide professional service, ensuring alcohol is served safely and responsibly.
  • Be accountable for working knowledge of the menu, ingredients, and daily availability, and accurately account for monetary transactions.
  • Share extensive knowledge of beverages with guests, enhancing their experience with add-ons and culinary terms.
  • Observe conditions of facilities and address challenges with the F&B leadership team.
  • Assist in other areas of the F&B Department as needed, including Banquets, Bar, In-Room Dining, and Restaurants.
  • The hotel and company are a smoke-free, drug-free facility, and equal opportunity employer.
