Summary:

Senior Resource Therapist, Reports to the Director of Respiratory Care Services, involves a dual focus: 50% (20 hours/week) dedicated to supporting a designated research study and 50% (20 hours/week) providing clinical respiratory care services. Research responsibilities include collaborating with study advisors and teams, maintaining IRB research training, obtaining necessary certifications, and occasionally performing off-campus duties. Clinical duties span inpatient respiratory care, pulmonary rehabilitation, patient education, and monitored exercise programs, with assignments determined by patient volumes, staffing needs, and therapist competencies. The role requires excellent communication skills, proactive initiative, and the ability to assess and address age-specific patient needs based on clinical data. Collaboration with patients, families, physicians, and healthcare staff is essential, ensuring all interactions reflect professionalism, dignity, and respect. Additionally, participation in hospital-wide activities, meetings, and committees supports both research and clinical objectives.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:




  • Graduate of an approved Respiratory Care Practitioner program.
  • Associate's degree required; BS/BA degree preferred.



Licensure/Certification:




  • Active Maryland State Board of Physician Quality Assurance (MPBQA) license.
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
  • Current CPR certification.
  • ACLS certification required within six months of hire; PALS certification preferred.
  • Must pass hospital arrhythmia test within three months.



Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:




  • Proficient in medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Solid knowledge of pulmonary anatomy and physiology related to diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
  • Mechanical aptitude for equipment troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and documentation tools.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively in multidisciplinary and research settings.
  • Demonstrated empathy, professionalism, and service excellence in patient and team interactions.



Experience:




  • At least one year of clinical respiratory experience, with proven ability in clinical assessments and professional engagement.



Salary Range: Minimum 38.41 per hour - Maximum 63.42 per hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.

In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
