Overview: The Sterile Process Technician follows a robust series of processes in instrument decontamination, sanitization and sterilization under general supervision ensuring all equipment is free of bioburden. Maintaining a high set of standards and procedures the instrument technician maintains, tests and assembles equipment in support of the central sterile processing to support all areas of the hospital. The Sterile Processing career ladder allows those to enter this field and receive on the job training to prepare to move up levels to achieve national certification and grow into a trainer and leader in the department and field giving stability and security for a long-term career with Mercy. Completion of career ladder competencies are at the discretion of the Sterile Processing Supervisor/manager based on internal operations and the below requirements are for hiring purposes only. Qualifications: Instrument Technician: Required Education: High School degree or GED equivalent Preferred Experience: Prior healthcare related experience, basic knowledge of sterilization processes in a clinical setting. Other: Basic computer skills Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE). Instrument Technician II: Meets all requirements of both the Instrument Technician, and Instrument Technician I as well as the following requirements: Required Experience: Minimum 4 months experience in Sterile Processing or 400 hours of hands on experience in Sterile Processing Required Certification: CRCST or CSPDT certification through IAHCSMM or CBSPD The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Mercy, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $32,250-$52,000.
