Job Summary

This PA position is a Surgical First Assist. The role of the First Assist will be to participate in and actively assist surgeons during the preoperative, intraoperative and postoperative care. The PA will assist in completing the operation safely and expeditiously by helping to provide exposure, maintain hemostasis, and other technical functions under the supervision of the surgeon. Must be able to travel to and between operating rooms at a rapid pace. Must be comfortable with inpatient postoperative management. Must have good organization, judgment, problem solving, and safety awareness skills. The ideal candidate will thrive working in a high paced academic environment with focus on teamwork and excellent patient care.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $78.62 - $105.82 (Hourly Rate).

Department Description

The UCSF Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center is an accredited National Cancer Institute Comprehensive Cancer Center. The NCI-Designation recognizes the scientific leadership, resources, and the depth and breadth of the research in basic, clinical and population science. As a Comprehensive Cancer Center, we demonstrate the added depth and breadth of research as well as substantial transdisciplinary research that bridges these scientific areas. The clinical services encompass adult and pediatric tumors across three campuses as well as regional satellite locations. The clinical cancer program is one of the largest clinical services at UCSF Medical Center and encompasses roughly 230 non-physician FTEs, 90+ cost center, and dozens of grant and philanthropic funding sources. At the UCSF Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center we are truly pioneering care and leaders in all areas of cancer clinical care and research. Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year Surgical First Assistant experience
• Minimum of 1 year experience in plastic or breast surgery
• Completion of Surgical First Assistant exam and certification by an accredited organization

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with inpatient management

License/Certification

• Active and current California Physician Assistant License (PA).
• California driver's license (CDL) if required for position.
• Current national board certification by first day of work and maintain.
• Active and transferable DEA license to California and have evidence of transfer by 90th day of clinical practice. (It is the responsibility of the employee to transfer their DEA license to their new place of employment if from out of state, via online DEA portal and provide evidence of transfer).
• Complete an AAPA recognized graduate master's degree program as a physician assistant.
• Submit enrollment with CMS Medicare and Medicaid through the credentialing process by first clinical day.
• Current AHA BLS.
