Job Summary

Manage the college's Network Security Infrastructure, including firewalls, vulnerability scanning, network access control, intrusion detection and other key networked items.


Essential Duties

Proactively develop, monitor, and maintain the configuration and architecture of the college's Firewall infrastructure to ensure maximum possible security and operational performance.

Review and implement changes to college's Firewall based on departmental level requests.

Act as subject matter expert for Information Security topics and initiatives and work with external auditors and consulting firms in the ongoing effort to improve TCC's information security posture.

Maintain network security standards and policy documentation. Assist with the creation and publication of user awareness training.

Monitors security vulnerability data feeds and works with IT system administrators and other personnel to remediate critical and high vulnerabilities as quickly as possible.

Work with a variety of vendors and technical support personnel to evaluate new products, future network strategies, existing problem resolutions and emerging technologies.

Work with other campus departments as needed during investigations of improper use of TCC networking or other computer assets.

Review network closet security procedures, physical access logs, and camera feeds.

Provide a high level of customer service by understanding user hardware and software needs, recognizing problems, developing recommendations and overseeing corrections.

Administers PRTG network monitoring and alerting system.


Minimum Qualifications

Associate's degree or equivalent education in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Management Information Systems or networking related studies. Degree requirement may be substituted with relevant and equivalent work experience.

3 years experience in network, server, and/or data center operations.

3 years advanced knowledge of current generation network infrastructure including routers, switches, system and network firewalls, enterprise wireless equipment, and cabling systems (fiber and copper.)

Ability to work a flexible schedule.

Ability to perform duties on one's own initiative with limited supervision.


Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Management Information Systems or networking related studies. Degree requirement may be substituted with relevant and equivalent work experience.

Familiarity with PCI Security Standards & HIPPA.

Ability to lift equipment up to 25 lbs.

Ability to climb a latter to assess plenum cabling runs and ceiling mounted equipment.

Ability to travel between multiple campuses and ability to support remotely when required.

Security + Certification.

Fortinet NSE certification (or comparable platform).
