Job Description: Embry-Riddle is now hiring an Associate Dean of Students. The Associate Dean of Students serves as a member of the Dean of Students' leadership team, providing oversight and support for the Division of Student Affairs and playing a key role in advancing student care, conduct, and success initiatives. This role involves direct administration of the student conduct system, including integrating restorative practices, managing high-level student care cases, and coordinating interventions for students in personal crises or disputes. The Associate Dean chairs the Behavioral Intervention Team, oversees policy review and revision of the student Honor Code, and supervises a Case Manager to ensure effective support for students.

Additionally, the Associate Dean provides senior leadership and strategic oversight for one of the functional units within the Dean of Students Office, which may include: Housing & Residential Life, Student Affairs & Civic Engagement, Counseling Center, Health Services, Fitness Center, Center for Faith and Spirituality, Intramural Sports, Student Engagement, Organizations, and Student Union activities.

Primary Job Functions:

  • Serves as a primary participant in the campus student conduct system by overseeing its strategic alignment with university, state, and federal regulations
  • Provides comprehensive training for students, staff, and faculty on various topics including the campus Honor Code
  • Serve as a non-clinical case manager for the CARE/BIT process in coordination with various campus partners
  • Manage student of concern process including outreach efforts for disputes, mental health, food insecurities, and withdrawal process
  • Participate in the department on-call crisis response and management rotation
  • Coordinate university resources and make referrals for situations such as emergencies, hospitalizations, and inquiries into student situations
  • Support the Dean of Students in delivering quality services and resources that enhance student satisfaction and retention
  • Directly supervise one Case Manager along with a functional unit comprised of professional and student employees
  • Participate in the department on-call crisis response and management rotation. This occurs on average once every 3 months. The on call period is for 24 hours a day for 1 full month
Qualifications

Required Education:

  • Master's degree in higher education, engineering, or related fields
  • 5-10 years of progressively responsible experience in a leadership role with student success, retention, and persistence efforts

Required Skills, Knowledge, abilities:

  • Knowledge of student success trends in higher education
  • Ability to lead and manage work groups, and perform as an effective implementer
  • Knowledge of Maxient Student Conduct software
  • Ability to lead teams through change
  • Ability to analyze data, assess program effectiveness, and make data-driven decisions
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Experience resolving complex student academic and retention issues and student/parent concerns.
  • Student-centered work ethic and a high level of personal integrity and accountability.
  • Willingness to work in an environment which may demand some flexibility or evening/weekend work
