Do you have a passion for cooking and a drive for excellence? Ready to be part of a team that brings delicious meals to life every day? Hilton Garden Inn Stony Brook is looking for a talented Line Cook who's ready to roll up their sleeves, ignite their culinary creativity, and help deliver an unforgettable dining experience for our guests.

The Hilton Garden Inn Stony Brook is located on the beautiful campus of Stony Brook University. Our hotel has 135 guest rooms, over 3,800 sq. ft. of event space, and is home to our very own restaurant Northern Coast Kitchen & Cocktails.

Managed by Crescent Hotels & Resorts we offer a dynamic work environment with a competitive salary and outstanding benefits.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Prepare, Cook, and Plate: You'll take charge of stations (grill, saute, fry, etc.), carefully preparing ingredients, cooking dishes to precise specifications, and ensuring each plate is beautifully presented for our guests. Whether it's a perfectly seared steak, a savory seafood dish, or a fresh, vibrant salad, you'll be the expert behind it all.
  • Follow Recipes and Set Standards: Adhere to our recipes and cooking techniques to ensure consistency and top-quality food every time. You'll work with your team to execute both daily menu items and special requests while maintaining the restaurant's established culinary standards.
  • Prep Like a Pro: You'll assist in prepping ingredients for daily service, chopping, marinating, and organizing items for an efficient and fast-paced kitchen environment. This ensures that the kitchen runs smoothly, and service is seamless, from first order to last.
  • Ensure Food Safety & Cleanliness: Maintain a clean and safe cooking environment by following proper food handling and sanitation standards. You'll keep your station spotless, wash utensils and equipment, and ensure that all food prep areas are clean and in compliance with health regulations.
  • Monitor Inventory: Help with tracking stock levels and communicating any shortages or needs to the kitchen manager, ensuring that ingredients and supplies are always ready for service. Being proactive and organized will help you keep the kitchen running smoothly.
  • Support Special Events & Catering: Occasionally, you may have the chance to work on special events or catering orders, creating custom menus and working with the team to provide excellent service for larger gatherings.

Who We're Looking For:

  • 1+ Year of Culinary/Line Cook Experience: You have at least one year of hands-on experience in a fast-paced kitchen environment, either as a line cook, or in a similar culinary role. You understand the flow of a busy kitchen and know how to handle high-pressure situations with ease.
  • Passion for Cooking: You love to cook and take pride in your craft. Whether it's creating a perfect dish or learning a new technique, you're always eager to grow and expand your culinary skills.
  • Excellent Communication Skills: You work well with others and understand the importance of clear, effective communication. You're always ready to lend a hand and ensure that the team functions smoothly during service.
  • Food Safety & Sanitation Knowledge: You understand the importance of food safety, cleanliness, and organization in a kitchen. You're familiar with health regulations and consistently follow proper procedures to keep the kitchen safe and clean.
  • Positive Attitude and Team Player: You bring a positive attitude to work and contribute to a collaborative and fun team environment. You understand that a great kitchen team makes all the difference in creating exceptional guest experiences.
