Duties and Responsibilities
Reporting to the Watch Commander, duties of this position include maintaining a safe environment for the University community by way of patrol (foot and vehicular) of Departmental patrol boundaries. Performs additional duties as directed.
This position requires the employee to have flexible availability in order to work all shifts, and all days of the week - including weekends, holidays, and extended shifts.
Minimum Education and/or Work Experience
High school diploma or GED, successful completion of 400+hours of police academy training from a State of IL certified program and one year of related experience. Licenses: State of Illinois certified firearms training; a current F.O.I.D. card and a valid driver's license.
Qualifications
- Must have a minimum of a high school diploma or GED.
- Previous law enforcement experience preferred.
- Experience in campus and/or hospital setting desired.
- Good verbal and written communication skills and a strong customer service focus.
- Ability to remain calm and objective in high pressure situations.
- Demonstrated use of good judgement.
- Must pass an extensive background investigation and drug screening.
Certificates/Credentials/Licenses
Requires state certification as a full-time police officer, valid Drivers License and Firearm Owners Identification.
Computer Skills
Keyboarding ability, and aptitude needed to use common business and departmental software.
