Position Description
Primary Purpose and Essential Functions |
The Department of Biological Sciences at the University of the Pacific invites applications for a 3-year (renewable and promotable), full-time 9-month Instructor position starting July 2025. Non-tenure-track faculty members collaborate in fulfilling the University's mission to provide a superior, student-centered learning experience integrating liberal arts and professional education and preparing individuals for lasting achievement and responsible leadership in their careers and communities. University of the Pacific is located in Stockton, California, named as the most racially and ethnically diverse big city in the United States in a 2020 US News & World Special Report.
Non-tenure track faculty members engage primarily in teaching. Teaching responsibilities may include lecture and lab in the following subjects: non-majors Biology, non-majors Anatomy & Physiology, Human Anatomy (model based), Human Physiology, Histology, or other courses that fit the candidate's training. The teaching load will be 6 courses (including labs) over 2 semesters.

Minimum Qualifications |
- Master's degree in biology, or a closely related field.
- Educational or professional experience in the area of instructional responsibility.

Preferred Qualifications |
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Doctorate degree in biology, or a closely related field.
- Postdoctoral experience.
- Experience as primary instructor of record for a previous course.
- Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
- Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting.
- Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work.

Hiring Range |
$68,640 - $72,000 (We consider factors such as, but not limited to, scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's qualifications, internal equity, as well as organizational considerations when extending an offer. |
