What you will do...

The quality and EHS Manager directs and assures consistent employee safety and food safety & quality process function by establishing, developing, and enforcing safe manufacturing practice systems; recognition of hazards, validating processes; providing documentation; auditing compliance, and managing staff.

Influences, guides, establishes, and directs food safety process function across several business divisions including Meals & Beverages and Snacks.

  • Establishes Food Safety & Quality Assurance (FSQA) standards by applying product, consumer, and regulatory requirements with a cross-functional team of management, engineers, operations personnel, and corporate FSQA resources.
    • Establishes in-process product inspection standards by observing manufacturing methods; devising testing methods and procedures.
    • Establishes standards for the disposition of finished product by developing evaluation tests, methods, and procedures.
    • Establishes product documentation system by writing and updating quality assurance procedures.
    • Ensure compliance to Corporate and Federal, State, and local government regulatory agencies policies.
    • Maintain compliance to 3rd party auditing standards such as GFSI, organic, non-GMO
    • Facilitates the relationship, communication, audits, and inspections with Food and Drug Administration and United States Department of Agriculture.
    • Oversee the development, implementation, review and maintenance of the SQF System, including food quality and food safety fundamentals outlined in 2.4.2, and 2.4.3 the food safety and quality plans. Take appropriate action to ensure the integrity of the SQF System; and communicate to relevant personnel all information essential to ensure the effective implementation and maintenance of the SQF System.
  • Achieves Food Safety & Quality Assurance (FSQA) operational objectives by contributing information and analysis to strategic plans and reviews; preparing and completing action plans; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; identifying and resolving problems; completing audits; determining system improvements; implementing change.
    • Maintains product FSQA by enforcing quality assurance policies and procedures and government and 3rd party requirements; collaborating with other members of management to develop new product and engineering designs, and manufacturing and training methods.
    • Validates FSQA processes by establishing product specifications and quality attributes; measuring production; documenting evidence; determining operational and performance qualification; writing and updating quality assurance procedures.
    • Develops FSQA plans by conducting hazard analyses; identifying critical control points and preventive measures; establishing critical limits, monitoring procedures, corrective actions, and verification procedures; monitoring inventories.
    • Maintains and improves FSQA by completing product, company, system, compliance, and surveillance audits; investigating customer complaints; collaborating with other members of management to develop new product and engineering designs, and manufacturing and training methods.
    • Prepares quality documentation and reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends including failed processes, internal audits, recalls, corrective actions, and re-validations.
    • Completes quality assurance operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees; following up on work results.
  • Institutes occupational health and safety standards through the study of plant operations and employee job requirements with other members of management and with production operators, technicians, and engineers.
    • Establishes inspection standards and protocols in accordance with regulatory and corporate requirements to identify risk in materials, operation, and behaviors.
    • Establishes standards for risk mitigation of processes and procedures by devising evaluation tools, metrics, and methods.
    • Establishes health and safety documentation system by writing and updating program procedures.
    • Ensures compliance to Corporate and Federal, State, and local government regulatory agencies policies.
  • Attains health and safety operational objectives by contributing information and analysis to strategic plans and reviews; preparing and completing action plans; identifying and resolving problems; completing audits; determining system improvements; implementing change.
    • Maintains safe work environment by enforcing health and safety policies and procedures and government requirements; collaborating with other members of management to develop new engineering designs, and manufacturing and training methods.
    • Substantiates safe work processes by establishing safe work practices, equipment specifications and safety attributes; documenting evidence; determining operational and performance qualification; writing and updating safety procedures.
    • Cultivates health and safety plans by conducting hazard analyses; identifying preventive measures; establishing critical limits, monitoring procedures, corrective actions, and verification procedures
    • Sustains and enhances a safe work environment by completing equipment, process, site, and behavior compliance and surveillance audits; investigating incidents; collaborating with other members of management to develop new procedures and engineering designs, and manufacturing and training methods.
    • Formulates health and safety documentation and reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends including incidents, inspections, new equipment/processes, and corrective actions.
    • Accomplishes health and safety operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees; following up on work results.
  • Accomplishes human resource objectives by recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing job contributions; planning and reviewing compensation actions; enforcing policies and procedures
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Achieves financial objectives by preparing the quality assurance budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

What you bring to the table...

  • Bachelor of Science in Science field required
  • 5+ years in Quality Assurance with responsibility for program establishment, validation, and compliance
  • HACCP Certification
  • Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI) Certification

It would be great if you have...

  • Master of Science in Food Science or related field
  • 10+ years directing Quality Assurance standards and objectives in a food manufacturing environment with significant canning and thermal processing experience
  • Background in employee safety process

Compensation and Benefits:

The target base salary range for this full-time, salaried position is between

$112,600-$161,900

Individual base pay depends on work location and additional factors such as experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training. Total pay may include other forms of compensation. In addition, we offer competitive health, dental, 401k and wellness benefits beginning on the first day of employment.
