The Lakeland Team Leader is accountable to lead the operation and personnel within a rotating shift environment. The Down Line Leader also manages and oversees all shift operations in a manner that enhances the plant's safety, engagement, cost, productivity, efficiency, quality, and customer service.

Reports to: The Operations Leader

Pay Rate:24.00

Span of Control: Up to 10 primary employees

Shift Schedule:12 hour shifts, rotates every 28 days from days to nights.

Week 1:work Monday & Tuesday, off Wednesday & Thursday, work Friday - Sunday

Week 2:off Monday & Tuesday, work Wednesday & Thursday, off Friday - Sunday

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities / Accountabilities include, but are not limited to:



  • Lead operations and personnel assigned to rotating shift.
  • Drive workgroup to proactively achieve zero injuries / safety incidents.
  • Resource shift to meet production schedules.
  • Maximize quality and quantity of product delivered to warehouse to satisfy customer needs.
  • Minimize controllable costs.
  • Sustain high levels of product quality, with a target of zero quality defects or complaints.
  • Communicate expectations, provide coaching when necessary and escalate performance related issues when necessary.
  • Foster an environment that promotes teamwork and inclusion.
  • Maintain plant housekeeping expectations.



1. Live the Safety stand, adhere to the safety responsibilities.



  • Lead execution of monthly team safety requirements - including required safety raining, completion of behavior-based safety observations, safety pre-shift risk assessments, departmental inspections, etc.
  • Educate team members on safe operations.
  • Effectively communicate Owens Corning's stand on safety throughout the Operations Department to ensure team members believe in and behave in a manner that supports our stand that all accidents are preventable, safety is everyone's responsibility, and that working safely is a condition of employment at Owens Corning.
  • Perform reporting and investigation of all safety incidents, driving to root cause and permanent resolution.


2. Operational and Technical Oversight



  • Directs and performs the duties of Down Line Operators.
  • Regularly verifies performance and condition of baggers, bag placers, forklifts, roll lifts, the floor in the surrounding area and quality areas of operations.
  • Secures the services of maintenance personnel to correct electrical, mechanical, or line down problems as necessary.
  • Assures shift regularly inspects and verifies performance of baggers, bag placers, and other pertinent equipment to avoid mechanical failure or operational inefficiency.
  • Monitors computer controls and control room. Inputs, retrieves, and disseminates data. Makes process adjustments per technical training for optimum quality properties.
  • Performs other related duties consistent with the nature of the job as directed by the NLT and the direct supervisor.
  • Manage processes and equipment to maximize operational efficiency and safety.
  • Oversee and assure safe working practices according to documented standard operating procedures (SOP), standard work, and job hazard assessments (JHA).
  • Educate, review, develop, train, and escalate issues as necessary.
  • Document positive and negative personnel performance.
  • Make processing changes and implement process improvements approved by engineering and proves suitable per technical training protocols.
  • Adjust processing variables outside of CPV range with engineering approval.


3. Achieve customer satisfaction and quality commitments



  • Understand and communicate customer expectations throughout the Operations Department, and ensure all products meet customer standards and requirements.
  • Ensure timely and accurate production to schedules to meet or exceed delivery to promise.
  • Ensure operational procedures are followed to product specifications, and quality metrics meet customers' needs.
  • Report and investigate all quality near misses.
  • Train operators on problem solving skills, and coach through resolution.


4. Lead and develop talent



  • Monitor and enforce all plant and corporate policies and procedures.
  • Provide candid feedback on expectations and performance to downline team members


5. Achieve Plant cost targets



  • Leverage standard work to minimize variation and waste.
  • Develop and implement productivity projects / programs to enhance processes.
  • Drive waste out of operation.
  • Utilize proper resourcing to meet cost.
  • Gather input from and engage all team members in productivity initiatives.



JOB REQUIREMENTS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Must be able to read, write and speak English
  • Must be able to understand verbal and written instructions
  • Must possess strong communication and organizational skills
  • Must have the ability to multi-task
  • Must have strong internal and external customer service skills
  • Must work well in team environment
  • Must be able to work independently
  • Must have ability to do basic math
  • Possess strong leadership skills
  • Strong commitment to safety proven by completion of all safety VIP metrics in the last year
  • Not currently in active discipline including but not limited to a safety discipline
  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent is required
  • Understanding of the Lakeland Fiberglas processes
  • Must demonstrate problem solving skills
  • Must demonstrate initiative and a quality work ethic



KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:



  • Must be able to operate various PLC software and control room software
  • Be proficient with Microsoft Outlook and other Office software



EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

The employee should have the following:



  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent is required

    • College degree is preferred


  • Must be authorized to work in the US
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Must be drug and alcohol free
  • Must have demonstrated and documented competency of Down Line Experience and at least 2 years of manufacturing experience
  • Related experience and/or industrial training in an industrial environment



ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position requires:



  • Exposure to temperature extremes
  • Exposure to sounds or noise levels that maybe uncomfortable
  • Handle, control or feel objects, tools or controls
  • Lifting/carrying/moving up to 50 pounds
  • Regular attendance on site and the ability to work shift schedule
  • Wearing respirator protection and other required PPE
  • Participates in the safety and good housekeeping programs as established within the plant
