Evening Shifts Available Correctional Facility in Bridgeton NJ The Staff Nurse utilizes the nursing process to meet a variety of health care needs with ambulatory care as a primary focus. Works with a variety of health care professionals and security officers in a correctional environment. Frequently functions guided by nursing protocols and functions as a team leader as assigned. Demonstrates competency in assessment and identification of the physical health of adults (18 to 64 years), and geriatrics (65+) across all population groups and their personal strengths. Identifies inmate-centered goals and nursing objectives and implements prescribed interventions and solutions for the identified problems. Provides direct and indirect nursing care to meet physiological, psychosocial, and emotional needs of the inmate-patient including adults and geriatrics within the framework established by the correctional system. Utilizes effective communication skills by demonstrating respect, concern, and courtesy in all interpersonal relationships. Uses current knowledge to promote a safe environment for providing health care to inmate-patients. Maintains current professional skills and continues professional growth to enhance the practice of correctional nursing and the image of the organization. Adheres to personnel policies to enhance the operation of the health care unit. Maintains required annual licensure and credentialing requirements for the nursing personnel of the health care unit and assumes responsibility for his/her continuing education and professional development and contributes to the professional growth of co-workers. Able to function in a stressful environment and relates well to patients, security staff, and healthcare team members. May be exposed to infections and contagious diseases. Entering and movement within the facility will be controlled by Correctional Officers. Qualifications
