Get to Know Your Team:

  • UT Health Tyler, the flagship hospital of the system, has 502 licensed beds specializing in advanced acute care medicine. Our hospital includes a 24-hour ER with Level 1 trauma center, a comprehensive stroke center, more than 500 physicians and a full complement of subspecialty groups.

Responsibilities

  • Administer therapeutic medical gases through adjunctive equipment and assist in the transportation of patients on oxygen when necessary
  • Administer Respiratory Care treatment modalities and appropriate Respiratory medication according to physician orders and departmental policy and procedure
  • Provide Respiratory Care Services in critical care and medical-surgical areas
  • Effectively assess patients for correct therapy and is available for consultation
  • Ensure that quality, continuity and goals of individual patient care plans are maintained
  • Function as preceptor for staff and student orientation within areas of General Therapy and Critical Care
  • Assist in inter- and intra-departmental educational and orientation programs
  • Assist director, supervisor and care team with development and implementation of policies and protocols
  • Participate in Departmental Quality Improvement (QI) program. Assist the department by reporting of quality assurance issues pertaining to Respiratory Care. May be assigned as primary investigator of QI issue
  • Function in a leadership capacity as Relief Supervisor on a temporary basis
  • Create work assignments and schedules

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

  • Licensed Respiratory Care practitioner by the State of Texas
  • Must be certified in BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP
  • Five (5) years of experience and three (3) years of critical care experience
