About the Department
The School of Film, Media & Theatre is part of the College of the Arts, which was established in 2016 and includes the Ernest G. Welch School of Art & Design, the School of Film, Media & Theatre, and the School of Music. The School is dedicated to educating the next generation of critically aware media makers, scholars, theatre practitioners and citizens. The school is the largest film and media program in Atlanta, the third largest media capital in America. It is also in the heart of a booming film and television industry, giving students access and experience to navigate the demands of a fast-changing and competitive film, media and theatre world.
Position Description
The selected candidate will be responsible for teaching a 4-4 course load of undergraduate and graduate courses in screenwriting, and participating in service at the School, College, and/or University levels.
Required Experience
A record of screenwriting achievements, which may include produced film or television credits, options or shopping agreements, film festival and competition successes, or selection for labs, fellowships, or residencies.
Required Education
MA in Screenwriting or a related field
Preferred Qualifications/Experience
MFA in Screenwriting or a related field.

An ability to teach screenwriting for episodic/serial television, feature films, and/or short films.
An established record of screenwriting achievements which demonstrates a dedication to professionalization and towards amplifying culturally distinct narratives.
Evidence of excellence in teaching at the university level.
An established record of mentoring students and/or colleagues.
An established record of administrative and/or service responsibilities.
Interest in developing new writing courses for the School.

Experience in a secondary field (such as playwriting or video game writing) a plus.

Position may require non-standard hours (including day, evening, online,

Salary $55,000
