Job Summary
Elmhurst University invites applications for a one-semester adjunct position starting in Spring 2025 in the Department of Music. The person in this position works closely with the Director of Music Theory and will teach two courses in Music Theory or one class in Music Theory and one class in Orchestration and Arranging
Essential Functions

  • Teach two courses during Spring 2025
  • Teach Music Theory II and/or III
  • Orchestration and Arranging
  • The experience and expertise of the successful candidate will play a role in determining teaching responsibilities.


Other Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform additional duties as assigned and required as a member of the Music Department faculty.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Masters Degree in Music Theory/Composition with work in progress toward a terminal degree.
  • Prior teaching experience at the college level
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Evidence of significant professional and scholarly experience and ability to attract and retain students.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Working knowledge of Pro Tools, Logic, Abelton.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements
Employee is subject to indoor work, protected from weather conditions. Work is sometimes but not always sedentary in nature and involves exerting up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently/constantly in order to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
