JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Kaufman laboratory in the Department of Molecular, Cell, and Cancer Biology at the University of Massachusetts Medical School is searching for a Postdoctoral candidate for a NIH-funded project. We will be studying the interplay between nuclear body formation, gene expression and genome organization, using molecular, cell biological and genomic methods. RESPONSIBILITIES:

We are particularly interested in changes in nuclear architecture during responses to extracellular signalling. The postdoctoral fellow will perform proximity labeling and small molecule inhibition experiments to analyze nuclear body formation during cell stimulation, usually via confocal microscopy and deep sequencing approaches. Molecular mapping of critical domains and biochemical experiments to explore mechanisms will follow.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The candidate will have a doctorate in biochemistry, molecular biology or related field and experience in producing high-quality published data. Experience with mammalian cell culture, imaging, genomics, or protein biochemistry will be particularly relevant for these studies. The candidate will also have shown the ability to solve complex problems individually and as part of a team and have excellent oral and written English communication skills.
